V určitý deň, pred bojom, na ktorom bol Masaru trénovaný, sa objavuje zvláštne zviera podobné dinosaurov. Toto divné stvorenie, "Agumon", je "digitálne monštrum" z iného sveta, "digitálny svet". Masaru a Agumon súhlasia s komunikáciou prostredníctvom bojov. Avšak Agumon unikol a bol prenasledovaný organizáciou, ktorá šetrí digitálne javy, nazývané "DATS (vyslovované" dats ").
